Mech cont.

Mech

This is the Military Gunwalker with just some simple shaders
Note: i did not draw this image, I did however draw over the image in the red outlines.

This was the concept for the Mech, of course with other reference images.

Mech

So i did an art test for a Mech concept. (Military gunwalker) At first i figured it was going to be a little challenging sense i had never modeled anything like this before. I sketched over one on the concept photos in photoshop to simplify the modeling process. I used Adobe Maya for the model. After finishing it, I was actually impressed with myself. For the first time of doing this, I feel like I've done a very good good. Another piece of the assignment was to work up a low-poly and high-poly version. The time limit was a little over two weeks. I started on the high-poly first and worked backwards to the low-poly. I figured that it would be good to get all the details out the way in the beginning.

Alien Cowboy

So I'm working on a character and at first I didn't know what to model. I started on a piece but didn't finish it. I became a little uninspired to finish it. However, I remember that I had some sketches of some characters that I wanted to model. I had sketched a cowboy in my Acting For Animators Class. I started to model that in Maya and had it came down to modeling the head of the character, it kind of felt like the character had a alien-like head. I decided to go with that theme. I will post it by the end of this week. That just goes to show you that sometimes your thoughts change and as a artist you dont have to be married to one picece and that you should embrace change and all aspects of it. It's called, EVOLUTION OF THE ARTISTRY. ;)

Cont.

Rapide Cont.

I'm going to lower the glow on the back lights because it is a little blinding.

Rapide Cont.

2010 Aston Martin Rapide

I Finally got finished with my car. Im so proud of myself from where I started on the first car. Now I just have to do some rendering modification to get it exactly the way I want it. I used image based lighting and a mixture of mental ray and maya shaders for the textures.

2010 Aston Martin cont.

Okay everyone. I started in my Aston Martin. I did run into some problems with trying to figure out how much detail to do while it's in nurbs and what to leave for detail when I convert it to Polys. I was watching a tutorial to get the feel for modeling the car and doing the curves, but of course they were modeling a lamborghini. That is fine but the curvature on the two cars couldn't be any more different. The lamborghini's structure is more hard edge and I have all these smooth curves on the Aston Martin. Go figure! but I spoke with one of my teachers and he really help me to get a clear understanding of what type of look I was going for. So im excited to really put the work in on it. COMING SOON!

I will be posting my progress up once I get well into the project. So everyone feel free to critic anything of my postings. I appreciate everyone's opinon. 2010 Aston Martin Rapide COMING SOON!

Final Willy Character

This character was completely done in Maya and Sub-Surface Shattering (SSS) was used for the skin textures. There was also photoshop textures for the housecoat, shower cap, eyes, and the soap. Maya Lamberts were used for the house shoes and rope on the house coat.

My textured elephant

This is my textured elephant. I took the original mesh from Maya and uploaded it into Zbrush. I also painted the elephant in Zbrush. It was my first time painting in Zbrush and I feel that it was it was a good first attempt. I still have to do some work on the actual mesh. I think it turned out pretty nice.

I was going for a very stylized hand with the fingers being wider at the tip and skinny at the root. I feel that it gives the character more personality with his big hands and smaller feet.

His accesories include a bath robe, a shower cap, a used bar of soap, and some bunny slippers.

Finished Model (Willy)

This is my finished character model. I still have to unwrap it, texture, and rig it but Im excited to say that the modeling is done. I used all polys, but the only thing that is a nurbs is the character's tongue

Also he is going to be wearing a shower cap. He is a very simple easy going character. With his bath robe, bunny slippers, and soap on hand I felt that these extra items gave this simple character a bit more life.

This is Willy

This is a characrter that I am modeling named Willy. I have to finish modeling the hand and arm, the neck, the inside of the mouth, and mirror the geometery of course. He is a work in progress but I put him on here right now to get anyone's opinion about it.

African war elephant in progress

This is a work in progress piece. I plan on finishing modifying it in maya and unwraping it so i can bring it into zbrush to texture it and to get a good wrinkle and skin affect. I know I have to really work on the eyes but does anyone have any other suggestions?

Cartoon car

This is a simple cartoon car model without the texturing. It was made with nurbs.
